The history of Excalibur began when the famous designer Brooks Stevens (1912-1995) built a Neoclassical car in 1964. This car resembled a Mercedes SSK. The designer was very well known and had worked for different companies. He was also responsible for the bodies of the Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk, the AMC Hornet and the Jeep Cherokee. In 1986, Stevens left the Excalibur Company. Henry Warner bought the company for $ 2.3 million. But he failed to state the building years correctly and because of this, the name Excalibur was ruined again. In 1991, Warner also went bankrupt as the sons of Stevens. Udo and Jens Geitlinger, dealers of second-hand cars took over the enterprise. In their Milwaukee factory, they confined themselves to two models: the Excalibur Roadster and the Limited Edition. They also built a replica of the AC Cobra. In 1992, 45 people worked in the enterprise again. The ‘Cobra’ was assembled from Ford-Mustang components, the Excaliburs from the components of the Chevrolet Corvette. The bodies were of plastic and were painted in different colors: red. blue, black, green and yellow. The idea of building fifty Excaliburs and one hundred and twenty Cobras was a dream for them. They had no success in attaining these numbers. Nobody knows if they are still in business.
